University of Alberta Professor Patricio Mendez lectures on welding
Recently, at the invitation of Professor Zhang Jianxun in the School of Materials Science, the distinguished Professor Patricio F. Mendez of the University of Alberta visited XJTU and delivered a lecture entitled “Modeling of welding for engineering applications.”
In the course of the lecture, Professor Mendez discussed recent developments in the digital simulation of welding, and summarized developments in other areas of welding research, highlighting those that are “green, efficient, energy saving and high quality” and encouraging students of welding to pursue work in the digital simulation of welding. Then he introduced the general situation of Canadian Centre for Welding and Joining, showing the high quality of Canadian Welding Center from each aspect such as the geographic location, personnel structure and instruments and equipment, and said he hoped that the two parties could intensify exchange and cooperation. At the end of his lecture, he responded to questions from the students in attendance. Later, Professor Mendez and his party visited the Welding Research Institute.
